Classroom Assistant 

Weekday classes and/or Weekend Workshops

Classroom Assistants will take an active role mingling with artists, support workers and the art educator. The Classroom Assistant will require a general awareness and readiness to support both the artists and art educator when required. 

Volunteers will assist with classroom set-up (i.e. putting out art materials, paper, paint and brushes).  During class monitor use of materials and offer artists assistance or help with acquiring more supplies.  Provide feedback and support to the artists on their work as requested and clean up materials at the end of class.

Time Commitment:  Weekday classes require 1.5 hours and weekend workshops are a 2.5 hour time commitment.

Location: Cool Arts Studio, #201, 421 Cawston Avenue (Rotary Centre for the Arts)

Supervision & Reporting: Classroom Assistant will report directly to the volunteer engagement lead Amy Bradshaw

Administrative Assistant

Cool Arts is looking for volunteers willing to help with studio administrative tasks, such as art inventory, administrative assistance, poster distribution, prep work for classes, exhibitions, events and workshops.

Time Commitment: Hours each week and/or month are flexible. Cool Arts would prefer a semester length time commitment if possible. Our semesters run seasonally:

Winter: January – March

Spring: April – June

Summer: July – August 

Fall: September – December

Location: Cool Arts Studio, #201, 421 Cawston Avenue (Rotary Centre for the Arts)

Event Volunteer

Cool Arts is involved in numerous community events and exhibitions throughout the year.  The Event Volunteer role would be involved with preparations, event set-up and/or tear-down and working at Cool Arts booths.

Some past examples where Cool Arts has had an event booth; ArtWalk, The Volunteer Fair and Autism Walk.

Time Commitment: Varies, based on event requirements.

Location: Preparation will usually take place at the Cool Arts studio, event set-up and tear-down will be at the designated event location, some travel may be required.

Supervision & Reporting: All volunteers will report directly to the volunteer engagement lead Amy Bradshaw.

Community Events – Weaving Together Volunteer

We are looking for both weaving instructors and community engagement volunteers. Please indicate your interest in the weaving project in the form below!

Weaving InstructorStarting in June we will start to teach the CA’s artists and the community engagement volunteers how to use the Soari loom.  For this role we are looking for experienced weavers to train volunteers how to use the Soari loom along with providing assistance with preparing materials for weaving.

Community Engagement VolunteersThis role will run during July and August. Volunteers will be needed for:

  • Set-up and tear-down of the loom on location
  • Signing in participants
  • Sanitizing the loom in between use
  • Demonstrating how to use the loom, and
  • providing assistance to community members taking part weaving on the Soari Loom
