Empowering Artists
with Diverse Abilities
Cool Arts Society is a vibrant nonprofit organization based in Kelowna, BC, offering inclusive fine arts opportunities to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).
Since 2003, guided by the inspiring vision of founder Sara McDonald, we’ve believed in one powerful idea: art belongs to everyone. What began with a small group of passionate participants has grown into a thriving community, welcoming over 45 artists weekly.
Thanks to the dedication of our volunteers — many involved for over a decade — and our professional instructors and leadership team, we provide a safe, creative space where artists are empowered to learn, express, and shine.
Our Mission
To make art truly inclusive — by supporting artists with diverse abilities, raising their visibility, and honoring the cultural and economic value of their work.
We offer structured, high-quality workshops in painting, fibre arts, mixed media, sculpture, and more.
Our artists exhibit their work in galleries, museums, cafés, and public venues across the Okanagan.
Cool Arts artists have even participated in international events like the Paralym Art World Cup, gaining global recognition.
Every session is built around care, creativity, and connection.
